Punishment for damaging Roads

Dear Members,

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India has issued a notification regarding the amendment in Section 3 of Prevention of damages to public property (Roads) Act 1984.

If anyone violates the rule, The following action will be taken :

  1. As per the amended provision, any truck, if caught with overload, than the Permitted loadability – the driver of that vehicle will be imprisoned for a period of minimum six months. His DL will be cancelled for three years.
  2. FIR will be registered against the owner of the truck.
  3. Heavy penalty will be imposed upon the Owner, Consignor and Consignee.

Thus, It is advised to each Industry Member, Owner, Consignor, Consignee and Driver to follow the rules for the fair use of their industry vehicles as per this notification.
